As you’re making plans for your next Photoboxx event, you’ll want to prepare your team and yourself with the tools necessary to help hashtag printing run smoothly when attendees arrive.
We’ve put together a helpful Social Media Basics guide to help you and your guests avoid any “operator error” related issues day of.
Posting Photos with Hashtags on Instagram
A great hashtag can promote interactions with your brand, awareness of your brand, and spur conversation with people that aren’t even at the event. Before the event begins, choose an event hashtag that attendees can post to.
Make sure you have the Instagram app downloaded on your device. To upload a photo, first tap the plus icon at the bottom of the screen. Choose the photo you would like to post. You can then add effects or filters. Click next and begin writing your caption. Add the designated event #hashtag in the caption and click ok.
*Note: a common error is misspelling the hashtag in the caption, if a user’s post is not printing, double check the spelling.
Posting Photos with @Mentions on Instagram
Although, #hashtags are a great tool to enhance campaigns and events, using an @Mention is an intentional, clear indication that your guests are connecting with your brand.
First, tap the plus icon to upload a photo. Choose the photo you would like to post. Once again, you can add effects or filters to the image. Click next and begin writing your caption. Add the designated event @mention in the caption and click ok.
*Note: posts with tagged account in images will not print. The @mention must be tagged in the caption.
Setting Your Instagram Account to Public
*Note: Photoboxx can only print photos from public accounts.
Guest’s Instagram profiles must be set to public in order for Photoboxx to print their photos.
Here’s how you can quickly switch your account to public: Tap your profile icon — tap the menu on the top right corner — at the very bottom of the menu choose settings — scroll down to privacy and security — right below select account privacy—untoggle private account.
Twitter Basics
Posting Photos with #Hashtags on Twitter
Make sure you have the Twitter app downloaded on your device. To create a post, first tap the feather icon in the right hand corner of the screen. Choose the photo you would like to use by tapping the image icon on the left hand size of the screen. Add your post caption by typing in the “What’s Happening?” section above the image. Be sure to add the event hashtag to the caption. Click tweet to upload the post.

You can also tag photos with @Mentions on Twitter.
Once again, create a post by tapping the feather icon in the right hand corner of the screen. Choose the photo you would like to use by tapping the image icon on the left hand size of the screen. Here’s how you can quickly set your Twitter account to public: Tap your profile photo on the top left hand corner — choose settings and privacy — tap privacy and safety (second option from the top) — untoggle protect your tweets. Now you’re good to go!
What if Some of my Guests Don’t Use Social Media?
Sometimes your guest’s aren’t interested in using Instagram or Twitter at all. That’s okay! Just have one of your staff members use our in-app camera and offer to take photos and post for guests so they can join in on the fun.
