Purdue University Welcome Week
Welcome week is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year for incoming students. For many universities, this year’s Welcome Week is one of the first in-person events on campus in well over a year. Many students have started their college journeys from home and have missed out on a year’s worth of experiences that would have given them an opportunity to make friends and connect with their peers. And students who are just beginning their college journey may be feeling unsure of how their first semester of college will look.
Purdue University wanted to make a big impact at this year’s Boiler Gold Rush to give students a memorable Welcome Week experience that made up for lost time and kicked off the school year with a bang. Here’s how they created an unforgettable experience for incoming students this year.
Purdue’s Boiler Gold Rush week kicked off with a series of interactive events happening all over campus. Participants were instructed to download the mobile app to review the list of scheduled activities, connect with other students and their team leader, and receive event notifications. They were able to pick and choose from events throughout the day and add them to their schedule to create their own customized itinerary.
How Purdue Incorporated Photoboxx Virtual Booth into Welcome Week
Purdue incorporated Photoboxx Virtual Booth into the experience to give students the opportunity to print their Gold Rush photos. Here is how it worked:
- Students simply scanned a QR code with their mobile device.
- Snapped a photo next to the oversized balloon wall and uploaded it.
- Then a Photoboxx photo booth printer instantly printed the photos for the students to keep.
Photoboxx Virtual Booth allows attendees to take their own photos and print them from anywhere on campus without needing to download any apps. Purdue created a custom event link that could be pulled up on a phone in seconds. Simply upload a few of your favorite photos and instantly print them from Photoboxx. Students stopped by the Photoboxx printer and picked up their Gold Rush branded prints to take home their custom keepsake. Virtual Booth was a hit on campus during Boiler Gold Rush— over 700 students printed 1,700+ photos throughout the week. 🙌
